UNDERSTANDING KASHMIR AS IT WAS

Image
Disclaimer: This article is an honest attempt at publicising my understanding of Kashmir and the events which occurred in Kashmir over the centuries. This article is based on the books I read on Kashmir and the documentaries, interviews and cinematograph I watched. I must admit that I posses limited knowledge about Kashmir and may or may not be able to comprehend the Kashmirian emotion to the fullest. I do not intend to hurt the sentiments of any individual or group of persons. This article has been written by me as a learner and nothing more. Before discussing the events which occurred in Kashmir, it is important to understand what Kashmir is truly about. Kashmir as conceived by the Rishis, Sages and Rulers is a prime centre of knowledge and beauty. It has derived its name from Kashyapa Rishi. Kashmir was initially a lake until Rishi Kashyapa cut a gap in the hills and channelled out this lake so that people could settle there. It was identified as an aesthetic valley of progress an

Disclaimer:   The following article stems out of the present situation in Karnataka and does NOT  intend to display communalism, favoritism or discrimination. The readers are requested to read the following content with an open mind irrespective of your political or religious ideologies. This article aims at  understanding the views of students, teachers, government and the education system and  is NOT  a religious article.  To begin with, let us understand the basic facts of this particular issue. The issue started in January, 2021, where few students who were wearing hijab were not allowed to enter the college in Udupi, Karnataka as it was against the dress code of the college. The students staged protest outside the college demanding entry inside wearing the hijab. In support of these students other students of the Muslim community from other colleges staged protest for entry of students wearing hijab. Some colleges allowed the entry of students wearing hijab and to counter this a

2nd OCTOBER - THE SHADE WE HAVE BEEN LIVING IN AND WHY IT IS TIME TO RISE UP

Image
2nd October is celebrated nationwide as Gandhi Jayanti for the past 70 years. What the majority of the nation has forgotten to celebrate and remember is the birth of a stalwart of India's development, prosperity, and security. Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri was born on 2nd October 1904, 35 years after Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born. Shastri Ji was an activist right from a young age and grew up in a society led by Gandhi and his followers towards an ' ahimsa way ' of achieving freedom. It is indeed true that Shastri Ji was influenced by some of the principles of M.K. Gandhi and took to politics and freedom struggle due to the mesmerising speeches.  In 1930, Shastri Ji formally became associated with the Congress Party and later became president of the Allahabad Congress Committee. After independence, Shastri ji served crucial roles under the Government of Jawaharlal Nehru. He served as the Minister of Railways, Minister of Transport and Communication, and Minister of Commer

A BUMPER INCIDENT

Image
Well, this may not be entirely matching with the theme and purpose of this blog page, however, I thought it pertinent to report and have in writing a copy of the incidents which occurred today. To start off let me admit that I am a relatively new driver and obtained my DL only last month, but I did join a driving school and learnt the nuances of driving in busy road conditions through practice and patience, and many people including myself believe that I am a safe driver who abides by all the motor laws set out by the Government. Today was just another torpid Tuesday until I decided to take my car along with a friend to get my Casio watch repaired. On our way back we stopped for a quick bite and proceeded towards our apartment which is around 7.2 KM from the service centre. I was driving and since it was a 2 lane road I was on the left lane and a Maruti Suzuki 800 was on my right. In front of me, there was a two-wheeler, in which the pillion was carrying an iron ladder and hence was

ARE THE TEACHERS REALLY HAPPY ON TEACHERS DAY?

Image
The heading that I have provided is a burning question which is essential in asking amidst this pandemic time. Unlike other authors who have written articles regarding this same situation through some personal experience of their parents who are teachers, I have not been exposed to any such experiences because none of my parents is a teacher. This article has found its roots deep in my heart because of the respect I have for my teachers. If any of my teachers are reading this do forgive me if I haven't justified your point of view as you would have expected. For the past few months, social media has come alive due to certain videos and posts which show how disgraceful and disrespectful the students can be to their teachers. The COVID pandemic has forced the education system to adopt a virtual functioning of classes and education is now imparted only through online mechanisms. This is indeed a new model of education which all of us, irrespective of students or teachers have to get f

YOU CAN INVEST EVEN WITHOUT HAVING A DEMAT ACCOUNT OR A PAN CARD

Image
To be honest, I myself did not believe the statement that I have made in the heading. When you read the word I nvestment , the first thing that strikes your mind is the stock market , which is the place millions of people take part in active buying and selling of shares of companies. Now companies in order to raise funds for their business divide and portion out their company. These units are known as shares and these are the tools in which millions of people invest their money. But the major requirement for investing in stocks is the requirement of a Dematerialized Account or the "Demat Account" and most of the students do not possess such Demat accounts.                                                                                                                                                                    Before conceptualizing a different mode of investment, I would like to emphasise on the need for investments by students. Investment is very essential in one&#

ECONOMY DURING COVID-19

Image
The Coronavirus outburst has shattered world economies. Even developed countries like the US have been tainted by this disease. Due to the possibility of high levels of infection, many countries, including India opted to go into a state of lockdown, wherein all activities would be temporarily suspended and people would have to stay at their homes and adhere to the social distancing guidelines. As a result of this, most of the production activities also came to a halt, which led to a temporary break in the economic development of the country. Before the Coronavirus outburst, India`s GDP growth was around 4.8% and was expected to reach 6% for the Financial Year 2020-21. In the current scenario, the GDP has reduced to lower 1% and threatens to decrease further.  I have used the word GDP a couple of times already. Let me give an insight into what exactly is GDP and why is it important. GDP refers to the Gross Domestic Product which is basically the sum total of all the products which have
